A family matter

Owners come and go with varying degrees of success.
In the 19th century, the Lamothe property belonged to Monsieur d'Elbauve, who also owned the very beautiful and very old Vertheuil Abbey.

In the late 1950s, the owner gradually abandoned winemaking and remained convinced that a treasure was hidden in the castle. He searched for it but found nothing…

When Gabriel Fabre, returning from Morocco, bought back the Domaine in 1964, wine production had ceased.
The 33 hectares of vines that today make up the Château Lamothe vineyard were planted from April 1967 on a clay-limestone slope and a "mound" of gravel.

In 1976, Gabriel Fabre bought the vineyards of Château Landat located in the adjacent commune of Vertheuil. In the Middle Ages, this estate belonged to the very powerful abbey of Vertheuil.

In 1982, Vincent settled down by buying the La Tonnelle estate, a vineyard that belonged in the 19th century to the highly regarded Château Picourneau. He embarked on the winemaking profession alongside his father.

After Gabriel Fabre's death, his children took over the business. Significant renovations were carried out in the various vat rooms and cellars in 1996 and 1999 to improve the winemaking facilities. Today, the buildings offer a high-quality workspace with modern equipment.

In 2007, Vincent FABRE and his wife decided to take over the overall management of Domaines FABRE. Today, they manage more than 90 hectares of vines spread across three different properties.

Mélanie and Jean-Hubert have joined them in this wonderful family adventure and are committed to continuing the development of Domaines Fabre by introducing new ideas for vintages and extending the reach of Domaines Fabre.
